Meet Mairi

Mairi McKeown

Coming from the nearby Aberdeenshire, Mairi is in third year studying Environmental Science.

Mairi has already had her fair share of musical endeavours here at the University of St Andrews, and we couldn’t be happier to have her with us!
She’s a lover of music, so much so that during her first week of uni, she and her flatmates had found an abandoned piano at the DRA recycling point and promptly took it to their flat, giving it a home in their kitchen.

Roger, as they’ve named it, is still a ‘key’ member of their flat to this day (get it?)

“What song never fails to make you cry?”

Mairi - ‘It’s Quiet Uptown from Hamilton. Songs don’t often make me cry but I was drenched in emotions when I saw the show. I guess it comes down to the feelings we associate with a piece of music, rather than the music itself!’
